Ruth Mahala Miller (1941-2022)

Mahala Ruth Smith was born on Feb. 16, 1941 in Borger, Texas to Bulah Bell Smith & Tom D. Smith. She was married to Henry “Bud” Turner Miller III, and they were married 62 years prior to his death in 2018. She was preceded in death by her three brothers: Tom D. Smith, Vasco Smith & Guy Smith.She is survived by her three children: Henry T. Miller (Annie), Steven K. Miller (Debbie), Kathy L. Miller. Her grandchildren: Erik, Tiffany, Dusty, Chris (Marcy) and Casey. And her great grandchildren: Logan, Linkoln, Lexz, Landon.Ruth was raised in Tulia, Texas in the panhandle. She attended Tulia High School. After getting married, her and Bud ran a Miller Auto Supply. She was active in the Jaycette’s while living in Texas.They moved to Washington in 1968. Ruth held a variety of accounting positions. They started a family construction business in 1972, Enterprise Construction Co. Ruth & Bud built many custom homes. She loved doing design work, especially interior decorating. They retired in 1995 and enjoyed years of traveling with their RV friends, visiting many states and creating memories. Then, they became snowbirds and enjoyed living in their Phoenix home part of the year for 14 years. Her passion, besides her family, was playing women’s softball and finally winning a state championship. She later became passionate about promoting and playing pickleball. She would be very happy that pickleball became Washington’s state official sport on the day of her passing on March 28, 2022. She also loved clogging and even joined a Red Hats Club with her Arizona friends.Ruth always had a high level of curiosity and she spent her lifetime learning and acquiring knowledge, which was her dedication in life and she was willing to share her “opinions” with anyone and everyone! Her mission was God, family, country and friends.She will always be with us in each new dawn.“My mind is at ease, my soul is at restRemembering all, How I truly was blessedContinue traditions no matter how smallGo on with your life, don’t worry about fallsI miss you already, so keep up your chinUntil the day comes, we’re together again.”web-20220424_131309.jpg
