Elma Kenefsky (née Matthewson), 88, passed away on February 6, 2025, in Woodinville, Washington.
Born on December 2, 1936, in Berwick, Elma spent her early years in the United Kingdom, where she completed her education and earned a degree in accounting. Despite facing the profound loss of both her parents at a young age, she persevered with resilience and determination. In her early twenties, she embarked on a new chapter by moving to Santa Monica, California. It was there that she met her husband and built a loving home where she raised her family.
Elma was a woman of immense kindness and generosity. She was known for her loving nature, patience, and unwavering compassion. She embraced her roles as a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, auntie, and friend with boundless devotion. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart; she cared for them when they were young and remained deeply connected to them throughout their lives.
She is survived by her daughter Laurie and son-in-law George; her son Gregg and daughter-in-law Maxine; and her cherished grandchildren Cole, Mateo, Michael, and Cooper. She was predeceased by her beloved son Glenn Kenefsky; her parents Margaret and James Matthewson; and her brothers Jim and Tom Matthewson.
Elma’s legacy of love and selflessness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to have been part of her life.
